Daniels seals Heys Joy in the Isle of Man

A ninetieth minute strike by substitute Greg Daniels secured a 2-0 victory against the Isle of Man at The Bowl in Douglas on Saturday. Heys were in confident mood after a home victory against Padiham in the week while the hosts were looking for a response after losing 3-1 at Pilkington last time out.

The visitors made two changes from the Padiham game bringing in Rio Wilson Heyes and Tyler James in and new signing from Avro Brad Sullivan made the bench. Things got off to the worst start for Prestwich as early as the second minute when forward Dean Pinnington was brought down in the box and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot but for the third time this season Heys keeper Jordan Hadlow saved the spot kick, this time diving to his right. Heys did not let this phase them and quickly got into the game and on eighteen minutes Kai Haigh knocked a lovely ball over to Tyler James but the IOM defender closed down quickly to prevent the shot. Heys were in control but chances few and far between until the deadlock was broken on twenty nine minutes when a ball over from the left found Jack Coop and he made no mistake smashing the ball bottom left from eighteen giving ravens keeper Ben Wilkinson no chance. It was James next to show for Heys on thirty eight minutes beating his man six yards out but his shot was deflected out for a corner. Isle of Man responded shortly after with Frank Jones firing bringing a save from Hadlow but at half time Heys were the happier team being in control of this one so far despite few chances. It was a similar story in the opening quarter of the second half and the home side were getting frustrated and this boiled over when Michael Williams was sin binned for ten minutes for something said to the referee on the hour. Two quick substitutions for Heys shortly after saw Greg Daniels replace Tyler James and midfielder Brad Sullivan came on for his debut replacing Rio Wilson Heyes. Both made an impact on seventy two minutes Daniels having a free kick cleared for a corner and Sullivan heading over the bar from the following corner as Heys pressed forward looking for the second. Coop fires in shortly after saved by Wilkinson from six yards and on seventy seven minutes it was more dissent towards the referee who decided to sin bin defender Alex Maitland for ten minutes. Eight minutes from time the hosts fight back started Hadlow and Jacob Ngoy clearing them off the line between them and shortly after Hadlow diving over the ball from another close range shot and then the best chance of all was from Joseph Walters bringing a point blank save from Hadlow. Heys at this point were looking nervy as we got to the ninetieth minute but Heys managed to break resulting in a corner on the left which was steered back to Daniels from eight yards who smashed it home past Wilkinson to the joy of the travelling fans and putting the points in the bag. So another good win away from home for Prestwich in a game they dominated for long periods and stayed focused at key moments near the end when the home side pressed hard and with games in hand on most of the teams above if the keep this up they will soon be fighting in the top half of the table.
